When you say 'wilderness camp' do you want something in the middle of nowhere or closer to places with population?
For middle of nowhere, i'd say either Alaska (Kobuk Valley National Park is awesome) or the Bitter Root Mountains in Wyoming. In both places you won't see anyone for days and depending on the exact spot, weeks on end.
For places with a little more people around (I personally don't like to go more than a day or so without seeing someone for safety reasons) I'd go with the Unitas in Utah, The High Sierras in California (Yosemite Nat Park, Ansel Adams Nat Wilderness, Sequoia-Kings Canyon Nat Park), MT Adams Nat Wilderness in Washington, or Glacier Nat Park in Montana.References : Been to all these places, and they're great

Where is the ultimate place to wilderness-camp in the United States?Preferably based on your personal experience.
Any state, any time of year.
